Hillier is best known as the neighbourhood that plays host to many of the County’s beloved wineries. Most people say it comes down to our special terroir, soils laden with limestone and the fact that we’re on a parallel latitude to Burgundy, but we know it’s because our winemakers are magical geniuses who also aren’t afraid to get dirt under their nails.
Despite creating some of the most spectacular cool/cold climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnays (amongst other beautiful varieties of the noble grape), it’s no surprise that there are some lovely peripheral things to do here besides sip. Perhaps the most interesting thing about Hillier, however, is how raw and lovely the neighbourhood is, despite its popularity.
You can’t visit for long enough to experience all that this neighbourhood has to offer, so plan well.
We’ll keep working to make sure these neighbourhood directories are as complete as possible, but remember—the pace and rhythm of the County means that hours change, new businesses pop up and old ones evolve. Always check in before dropping by!
